Description
The Bhagavad-Gītā which is the most popularly read and widely accepted Indian scripture indeed illustrates the transformative process of the mind from total delusion and inertia to that of clarity and insight that are necessary components of a mature, healthy and undistracted mind. The virtuous qualities have been classified as divine or saintly by Lord Kṛṣṇa that endow an emotionally and cognitively balanced Sāttvika mind. They, therefore, serve as parameters for a healthy mind. Whereas, the undesirable tendencies that have been labelled as demoniac by Him, characterize an indiscriminate mind that is weak and unhealthy.
Thus, the PMI is a practical application of the principles of the Bhagavad-Gītā that serves to ascertain mental stability in terms of various favourable and unfavourable tendencies. These qualities enumerated in the Bhagavad-Gītā are unconfined to any religious or cultural boundaries, thereby making the questionnaire amenable to be utilised both as an assessment tool to evaluate one’s general mindset as well as an outcome measure after having undergone any form of self-transformative / rehabilitative training or coaching program, thus also indicating the efficacy of the program through the extent of the evolvement of the individual.
