Description
Free association is a technique used in psychoanalytic therapy to help patients learn more about what they are thinking and feeling. The goal of free association is not primarily to uncover hidden memories but to identify genuine thoughts and feelings about life situations that might be problematic, yet not be self-evident.
Uses of free association experiment:
1. To study besides the memory, thinking, etc. different mental functions of a subject, his behavioral aspects.
2. To find an emotional divergence of different fields and complexes.
3. For clinical or diagnostic purposes.
4. For detection of guilt.
5. For studying different attitudes and interests.
