Description
The attitude scale towards the home environment is based on ten dimensions spread over three parameters, Interrelation parameter includes dimensions such as Family integration, Conflict, Self-expression, and Social climate of the family. Individual development parameter includes dimension as Guidance provided at home, Emotional support, Success orientation, and Independence, and System organization parameter include dimensions like Organization and management of family and Control. Then the items associated with ten dimensions were selected and each item was selected according to the nature of the dimension. For the selection of the items, previous tools and studies related to the home environment were consulted along with the available literature. While selecting items, the nature of the items measured and the desired dimension of the home environment was taken into consideration. The final scale includes 71 items to measure ten dimensions of the home environment. Content validity was evaluated by more than 20 experts and validity was calculated by the correlation between the score of each dimension and the total score of the scale. To know the discrimination validity for each dimension of the test, the ‘t-test for two independent samples was used (high group and low group). The reliability of the scale was tested by calculating Alpha Coefficients. Overall it is concluded that the scale has good construct and discrimination validity. Moreover, all the values of the reliability coefficient for each dimension are highly significant.
